1. This semester, the skills I learned were how to narrow my topic down and get as close as I want to my research question.  I also learned how to use the databases, which many of them I wasn’t familiar with.  And lastly, which I found most important and helpful was Refworks.
2. I think that all the concepts were covered and discussed in a really simple way that made them easy to implement in our daily use of research for all our courses.
3. Blogging was interesting because it gives everyone the chance to look at other’s post and comment on them, which helps you learn and grasp new ideas.
4. There isn’t really anything specific that I didn’t like about WordPress, except the fact that it was confusing at first, which is normal; also sometimes it took ages to load or work which bothered me sometimes.
5. I believe that LALT is a really useful course and I regret that I didn’t take it in my fist year of university because it would have helped a lot and made things easier for me.  It the best way to learn how to research and how to use the resources available for you.

I have searched two databases that fall under the major (Journalism and Mass Communication) that serves my research question. The two databases are Library Press Display and Communication and Mass Media Complete.

Library Press Display is covers area of journalism and mass communication, hence serving my research question properly. It offers data that covers the latest 60 days covered in over than 1000 magazines and newspapers in different countries and different languages. It is accessible both on and off campus as well. Also full text published in the magazine and the newspaper is available.

Communication and Mass Media Complete is a scholarly database that serves the field of Journalism and Mass communication. It offers articles all the way from 1920 to today. It contains abstracts and some full texts as well as handbooks that cover media from 300 journals.  It can be accessed on campus and off campus.

Communication and Mass Media Complete seems easier to use since it’s easier to find the search area, easier to narrow down your search. It is also more credible since it contains mostly scholarly articles. Library Press display though is better for a quick research about a random article published in a magazine or newspaper On the other hand, Communication and Mass Media Complete serves best as an in-depth research database since it offers full, credible texts.

Anthrosource is an online portal that offers anthropological resources, which serves the purpose of my research. It offers more than 250,000 articles from journals, newsletters, bulletins, monographs; resources for all anthropological matters. It is accessible both on and off the AUC campus. T

he Anothropoogical Index Online is a database that covers all issues regarding anthropology. It offers periodicals as well as journals in different languages. It can be accessed both on and off AUC campus.

Anthrosource is a user-friendlier source; it is easier to search through in regards to narrowing the search and such. It also looks to be more credible as well as reliable as it is offered to members of the American Anthropological Association. The Anthropological Index Online though seems to be more useful when researching very old articles.

2. Academic disciplines that relate to my research question are: law; chemistry; psychology; and health sciences.

3. Majors that relate to my research topic are: psychology and chemistry.

4. Databases that will help me do in-depth research about my topic are: 1) Science Direct – it is focused on all fields of science and medicine.  2) PsycInfo – its main focus is the field of psychology.
